Student Leadership

At our school, student leadership provides opportunities for students to develop confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of community. Leadership roles encourage students to contribute positively to school life, support their peers and represent the values of our school.

Students who take on leadership positions are expected to demonstrate respect, integrity and pride in their school. Through these roles, students build valuable skills in communication, teamwork and decision-making while helping to create a positive and inclusive school environment.

We are proud to offer a range of leadership opportunities that allow students to grow as leaders and role models within our school community.

School captains

Each year, four students are selected to serve as our School Captains. These students play an important leadership role within our school community and are expected to demonstrate the highest standards of behaviour, responsibility and school pride.

School Captains carry out a range of important duties, including speaking at school parades, welcoming and thanking guest speakers, representing the school at official functions and attending leadership meetings. They act as role models for other students and contribute positively to the culture and spirit of our school.

Nominations for School Captain take place at the beginning of each school year. Students considered for this role must consistently demonstrate exceptional behaviour and embody the values of our school.

Sports captains

Each of our four sporting houses elects two Sports Captains each year. These students provide leadership within their houses and help promote participation, teamwork and school spirit during sporting events and carnivals.

Nominations for Sports Captain take place at the beginning of each school year. Students considered for this role must consistently demonstrate exceptional behaviour and embody the values of our school.

Earlyact committee

Year 5 students are invited to take on executive roles within the EarlyAct Committee, including President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.

The committee is made up of the four student leaders and representatives from the Gympie Rotary Club. EarlyAct provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills while working together to support community initiatives and service projects.
