One Mile State School caters for children from prep to year 6. We have a current enrolment of around 500 students and 60 staff.
At One Mile State School we are committed to the development of the full potential of each and every child. In 2012 we commenced teaching mathematics, english and science in alignment with the Australian curriculum. In 2013 we will commence history from the Australian curriculum. The other key learning areas (studies of society and environment (SOSE) , the arts, health and physical education (HPE), language other than english (LOTE - german) and technology) will continue to be taught in from the Essential Learnings provided by the Queensland Studies Authority until these subjects are rolled out from the Australian curriculum. Students are supported to access the curriculum with an explicit improvement agenda which caters for children requiring extension and intervention.
Our school is on a continuous journey of renewal and revitalisation. Success is celebrated at every opportunity and all members of our school community are highly valued as key stakeholders. At One Mile, parents, students and staff together make our school a vibrant learning community.
A plan for responsible behaviour, in line with the Department of Education, Training and Employment code of behaviour sets the expectations about students’ behaviour. We focus strongly on the promotion of responsible behaviour teaching children to be self-managed and make responsible choices.
At One Mile State School our school vision is ‘discover the gold within’ and our school motto is ‘honour before self’. The values behind our vision and school motto permeate everything we do.
I am privileged to be Principal of this wonderful school community and welcome you sincerely to be part of our great school.
We hope that your association with our school is a long, happy and cherished one.
