BYOd learning at One Mile State School

We are the pioneering primary school in Gympie to introduce the BYOd program. This program is accessible to students in grades 4, 5, and 6. With the advent of the new curriculum and the launch of QLearn, an abundance of learning resources are now available online and can be easily distributed to students with a simple click. Students have the convenience of completing their assignments and submitting them to their teachers without the risk of losing any work.

The teachers at One Mile employ a variety of teaching techniques to effectively impart knowledge to their students. These techniques encompass both traditional methods such as handwriting on paper and utilizing the software and tools provided by the devices. The Heads of Departments have outlined the specific purposes for which the devices will be utilized in their respective subjects, as well as the extent to which students can expect their usage. It is imperative for students to bring their devices to school every day in order to facilitate successful learning across all subjects.

To ensure seamless connectivity to the school network, school internet, and printers, it is highly advised to encase all devices, be it a laptop or an iPad, in a durable and safeguarding case. Adhering to the recommended device specifications will facilitate effortless device integration with the aforementioned systems. However, alternative devices connecting to the network may experience restricted functionality, thereby impeding the learning process.

***Important to note before buying the device***

Despite the widespread adoption of 5ghz throughout the school, the usage of 2.4ghz devices will continue to be permitted until 2025, at which point it will gradually be phased out. This accommodation is made to ensure that students who possess devices that solely support 2.4ghz are still able to utilize them within the school premises.
